FOSTER GRANDPARENT PAID VOLUNTEERED OPPORTUNITIES

The Foster Grandparent Program is designed to provide meaningful job opportunities for people fifty-five  years of age and older who meet personal income and program guidelines. Foster Grandparents are continually needed in all counties to work four to seven hours daily in public and private schools, Head Start programs, pre-schools, day care programs and exceptional care facilities. Participants are paid a tax-free stipend, travel allowance, paid holidays, sick leave, vacation days and receive a paid annual physical. The stipend they receive has no effect on social security payments, Veteran’s benefits, public housing assistance or food stamps. Foster Grandparents also receive job training and continuous in-service training throughout the year.

Presently, foster grandparents are needed in Bureau, Carroll, LaSalle, Lee, Marshall, Ogle, Putnam, Stark and Whiteside Counties.
